DESCRIPTION:Friday\, August 23 · 10am to 12pm\nEllen T. Leslie Botanical Classrooms \nIn these demonstrations Phil Malhiot will take rough stock material (TBD) and demonstrate his vision for how to take that material and transform it into something that will be recognizable as a potential future bonsai. This demonstration will include trimming\, wiring\, and shaping of the material and may include the creation of deadwood and/or carving depending on the final material selected.  While engaged in the demonstration Phil will discuss general care and maintenance and take questions from the audience.  It will be a real-time experience of seeing some first steps taken to create a new bonsai tree! \n  \nREGISTER HERE THROUGH GLBS

SUMMARY:Bonsai Workshop - Tropical Willow Leaf Ficus
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, August 23 · 1:00 to 4:00pm\nLeslie Botanical Classrooms\n$100  \nWillow Leaf Ficus (Ficus narifolia)\, is a species of fig that is native to Asia. It is a tropical plant that is cultivated as an ornamental for its foliage. It can be grown indoors\, is somewhat drought tolerant\, and is sought after for use as bonsai material. In this workshop Phil will direct participants as a group and individually to do an initial styling.  We will not be doing any repotting during this workshop. We will give information and advice on doing that on your own after the worshop. \nWorkshops require participants to bring their own tools and/or turntable if possible\, the club will have some extra tools available as needed as well as wire \nREGISTER HERE THROUGH GLBS
