An Announcement from Waterfront Botanical Gardens

This June, we celebrate Kasey Maier’s tenth year with Waterfront Botanical Gardens. With this important milestone, we also celebrate her shift from President and Chief Executive Officer to President and Chief Strategy Officer.

Before a single seed was planted or bucket of soil was moved, Kasey has been a dedicated, passionate, and visionary leader for the Gardens. This is an exciting step in the growth of our organization and helps pave the way for completion of Waterfront Botanical Gardens’ Master Plan.

A LETTER FROM KASEY

Dear Friends,

When I began my journey with Botanica, Inc. in 2013, my focus was on raising money and developing relationships to build a botanical garden for our region. That is where my passion lies and what I want to continue to do.

As of June 1, I changed my role from President and CEO to President and Chief Strategy Officer. COO Davena Vowels, CFO Jeff Fortwengler, and I will jointly report to Margaret Cregor Bell, interim CEO. A search for a permanent CEO will begin later this year.

Waterfront Botanical Gardens is no longer the startup it was when I joined the organization, and we have built a solid team over the last few years. Funding and future strategy are very important to our growth. I decided to make this change so that I can focus on fundraising to support operations, accelerate construction on the Japanese Garden, and move us closer to completion of our Master Plan.

I appreciate all the important relationships I have developed over the last 10 years, and can’t wait to see what we will accomplish in the years to come.

-Kasey
