Pruning During the Growing Season

July 27 @ 12:43 am

Saturday, June 5

8 – 10am

The Avish Estate (directions supplied to registrants)

$20, $15 WBG members (use code WBGMEMBER at checkout to receive discount)

Brush up on your pruning skills and confidence in this hybrid lecture, demo, and workshop. Many discuss pruning in late winter when leaves are absent, but what happens when pruning or deadheading is needed during the growing season? Are there shrubs or trees you shouldn’t prune in summer and fall?

Learn about the best tools, where to make the pruning cuts on woody and herbaceous stems, and what plants you shouldn’t prune after July 1. Become familiar with some trees that are best pruned in summer to diminish the threat of insect or disease. Discover how plants respond to pruning during the growing season as compared to being pruned at the end of winter.

Refund Policy

Although we are unable to refund registration fees in the case of cancellation by the purchaser, the paid registration can be transferred to another student. In this case, please notify Kat Rivers at krivers@waterfrontgardens.org or 502-276-5404 with the name of who will attend in your place. Multi-event series cannot be transferred. In the event that Waterfront Botanical Gardens cancels a class for any reason (e.g. low enrollment, instructor unavailability, natural hazard, etc.), we will attempt to reschedule the class or event. If there is no reschedule, the purchaser will be issued a full refund. Refunds are issued by check only. Beargrass Canoe Tours have a different policy with no refunds under any circumstance because of river and weather volatility.

Emergency Cancellation

In the event of an emergency cancellation, the Gardens will contact registered students with a cancellation notice (always provide/maintain a current email address and phone number so that we may notify you of an emergency or cancellation). The Gardens will attempt to reschedule classes cancelled due to an emergency event if possible.
