Summer Garden Tour and Bus Trip

Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens

An exciting horticultural double-header awaits Louisville-area gardeners on Saturday, June 16, as Botanica leads a bus tour to the Boone County Arboretum in Northern Kentucky and the flower-filled Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. The tour will include discussions of the various plants we see along the way and will be led by the officials and horticulturists from the tour stops, as well as by Bob Hill, owner of Hidden Hill Nursery in Utica, IN, and a sponsor of the trip.

The tour begins at 8am at a Louisville location with free parking (exact location TBA). The first stop will be The Boone County Arboretum in Northern Kentucky, a well laid-out collection of more than 100 acres of trees, plants, and shrubs that features some of the same concepts that may be included in Botanica’s Waterfront Botanical Gardens.

The second stop is the horticultural showcase at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, an intricate and colorful collection of more than 3,000 annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees that ranks it among the best zoo gardens in the United States. The zoo is also home to an award-winning “green” building, which serves as a meeting and lecture hall – another feature we hope to incorporate in the the Waterfront Gardens. We hope you are able to join us for these exciting garden tours.
