Ikebana is a Japanese floral art form rooted in ancient tradition. Practicing it reconnects us to an appreciation of nature’s gifts and allows your creativity to blossom.
This 6-hour, hands-on workshop introduces you to ikebana’s basic forms as well as concepts behind “free style” expression. You will create arrangements with Brooke Pohl as your guide and have the benefit of learning from everyone’s explorations. Each arrangement created may then be taken home to enjoy.
Instructor: Brooke Pohl lives in Lexington. She has practiced and taught Sogetsu ikebana throughout North America for nearly 30 years. Commissioned works include the Lexington Symphony, restaurants, meditation centers, and various public and private events.
This workshop’s registration provides all necessary flowers, 1 container and a kenzan (needle flower holder).
Please bring floral shears and 1 or 2 additional containers of your choice. We strongly recommend you bring a bucket or container to carry your flowers home.
Lunch from Osaka (sushi and salads) and refreshments during the 6-hour day are included.
Ages 18+
Partnered with Japan / America Society of Kentucky
