Dyeing and Sewing Workshop
3 Part Series: Saturday, October 7, 14, and 21 • 9:00 – 11:30 a.m.

In this 3-part series, students will dye fabrics then create a useful one of a kind machine sewn bag. All materials and tools are provided in this small class offering a more hands-on learning experience. No sewing experience required, just a willingness to learn. Students may bring their own machine if desired, but machines will be available to share. See below for more class details!
Session 1: Dye –
- Dyeing with natural dyes
- Use resists for indigo
- Practice sewing in the machine
Session 2: Measure and Cut –
- Plan fabric placements for bag
- Adjust pattern or lay out fabric for cutting
- Hand embroidery
- Start assembly
Session 3: Sew and Finish –
- Assemble garment
- Finish with hand sewing, embroidery, embellishment, closures, etc.
Meet the Artist: Tammy M. Burke is trained as a garment maker and has made clothing worn on stages all over the world. She also operates her own custom clothing brand called Tammy Takes a Dip, making custom garments. Find her on Instagram at @tammytakesadip
