Taste traditional dishes from Japan here at the Gardens. In this cooking demo, you’ll leave with a better understanding of the unique taste of umami, one of the five basic tastes essential in Japanese cuisine. Umami translates to mean “essence of deliciousness.” Menu and food demonstration notes will be supplied for attendees to practice Japanese cooking techniques and further utilize the amino acid umami in their home cooking.

— Tamagoyaki – Japanese Rolled Omelette
— Goma-ae – Japanese spinach salad
Afterwards, each student will learn how to roll their own sushi and take home a sushi-making kit.

Refund Policy
Although we are unable to refund registration fees in the case of cancellation by the purchaser, the paid registration can be transferred to another student. In this case, please notify KAT RIVERS at
KRIVERS@WATERFRONTGARDENS.ORG or
502-276-5404 with the name of who will attend in your place. Multi-event series cannot be transferred. In the event that Waterfront Botanical Gardens cancels a class for any reason (e.g. low enrollment, instructor unavailability, natural hazard, etc.), we will attempt to reschedule the class or event. If there is no reschedule, the purchaser will be issued a full refund. Refunds are issued by check only.
Emergency Cancellation
In the event of an emergency cancellation, the Gardens will contact registered students with a cancellation notice (always provide/maintain a current email address and phone number so that we may notify you of an emergency or cancellation). The Gardens will attempt to reschedule classes cancelled due to an emergency event if possible.
