SOLD OUT Repotting Orchids
Saturday, November 6
Leslie Botanical Classroom at WBG
$35 | $30 WBG members (use code WBGMEMBER at checkout to receive discount)
Our popular orchid class is back! Become enchanted again with the dynamic orchid plant family – one of the largest of all on the planet.
This introductory, in-person workshop presents basic lifeforms and biology of orchid plants, including flower anatomy, growth habit, and understanding the taxonomy and names of orchids that have been bred by humans for generations. View several different flowering orchid plant types. Potting mix, pots, mounting, and a hands-on repotting demonstration will be covered.
Each registrant may bring up to two personal orchids from home to re-pot during this workshop. Learn to identify some common orchid plant pests.
Instructor: Jim Burnett
Jim Burnett is a retired science instructor from Olney Central College in Illinois, where he taught an orchid biology class that shared the science and hobbyist lifestyle of orchid growing to undergraduates and community members alike.
** All students (regardless of vaccination status) are required to practice social distancing and wear a face mask. Hand sanitizer stations will be provided.
Although we are unable to refund registration fees in the case of cancellation by the purchaser, the paid registration can be transferred to another student. In this case, please notify KAT RIVERS at KRIVERS@WATERFRONTGARDENS.ORG or 502-276-5404 with the name of who will attend in your place. Multi-event series cannot be transferred. In the event that Waterfront Botanical Gardens cancels a class for any reason (e.g. low enrollment, instructor unavailability, natural hazard, etc.), we will attempt to reschedule the class or event. If there is no reschedule, the purchaser will be issued a full refund. Refunds are issued by check only. Beargrass Canoe Tours have a different policy with no refunds under any circumstance because of river and weather volatility.
In the event of an emergency cancellation, the Gardens will contact registered students with a cancellation notice (always provide/maintain a current email address and phone number so that we may notify you of an emergency or cancellation). The Gardens will attempt to reschedule classes cancelled due to an emergency event if possible.
