Bundle up and get ready for this fall-inspired menu. Louisville Chef, Nikkia Rhodes, finds herself inspired by a sweet-tasting root vegetable, the sweet potato. Grown from our own garden, prepare for a cozy night at the Gardens.

The menu for the evening will include a sweet potato hash tasting paired with sweet potato biscuits with sorghum butter. She will demo each, discussing how to prepare, cook, and serve.

A fall cocktail prepared by a Spirit mentee from the LEE initiative will also be shared. Come try her take on a classic whiskey sour, using roasted cinnamon infused Maker’s Mark, sweet potato demerara syrup, and lemon.

Chef: Nikkia Rhodes is a Louisville chef who teaches culinary arts at Iroquois high school. She founded and was the executive chef of the McAtee Community Kitchen and has participated in various ways with the LEE Initiative.  Chef Nikkia was also named one of Southern Living Magazine’s cooks of the year!

Mixologist: Sarah McCabe has been in the service industry for about 9 years, but over the last 4, has fallen enamored with cocktails and spirits education. Sarah is passionate about establishing sustainable practices and is thrilled to be a spirit mentee of the LEE Initiative, where she will be mentored by female leaders in the industry. You can currently find Sarah as the Assistant GM at Osteria Georgi in Chapel Hill.
