Benefiting from small class-size and individual teaching, you will learn how to install a rush seat in a handcrafted red oak stool, about 12 inches square and 12 inches high. You will learn the differences between natural and artificial rush, cane, splint, and other weaving materials. During the five hour class, you will start and finish the stool, appreciate the techniques involved in this historic craft, have fun, and look at the finished stool with accomplishment. With the information gained in this introductory class, and the resources provided, you would be better equipped if you want to rush a chair in the future.
