Wednesday November 3rd

Seated Dinner 6 pm
Presentation 7-8:15 pm
Guest Speaker:
Panayoti Kelaidis
Director of Outreach & Senior Curator
Denver Botanic Gardens
The dynamic gardener and plant explorer Panayoti Kelaidis is a pillar of Denver Botanic Gardens and American West and High Plains horticulture. What does a contemporary plant hunter experience and find? Hear and see highlights of Panayoti’s expeditions during his tenure: from Mexico in search of yellow phlox in the 1970s to the many trips to South Africa in the 1990s. More recently, his journeys took him to China and Tibet in search of potential ornamental flora suitable to the central United States. Admire the scenery of these distant landscapes as well as the beautiful plants that call those locales home. Discover which plants found their way back to North America and are growing here and which ones have potential for use in the Louisville regions.
