This luncheon features:
“The Pointe’s Past: the Ohio Street Neighborhood to today’s Botanical Gardens”
From the layout and geography and usage of the Pointe in the 19th century, to contemporary development in Butchertown, learn more about Beargrass Creek and the people and stories of the Ohio Street neighborhood up through the mid 1940s. Slaughterhouses, the Heigold house, and that old city dump may all come into play.
Noted historian and Louisville “pied piper,” Tom Owen is former Metro Council President. He is a full professor at the University of Louisville and has worked at the institution since 1968. He holds a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor of divinity from Methodist Theological School in Ohio.

Although we are unable to refund registration fees in the case of cancellation by the purchaser, the paid registration can be transferred to another student. In this case, please notify Allison Whitehouse at awhitehouse@waterfrontgardens.
Emergency Cancellation
In the event of an emergency cancellation, the Gardens will contact registered students with a cancellation notice (always provide/maintain a current email address and phone number so that we may notify you of an emergency or cancellation). The Gardens will attempt to reschedule classes cancelled due to an emergency event if possible.
