OUTDOOR EDUCATION GARDENS
Featuring the plaza surrounding the Graeser Family Education Center, Edible Garden Planters, Water Wall, Native Gardens, Pollinator Gardens and “Capriccio” sculpture.
Completed in 2020 were the Rounsavall Family Foundation Plaza Fountain and the Beargrass Creek Pathway with a waterfall stream.
Beargrass Creek Pathway
Just outside the Graeser Family Education Center is the Beargrass Creek Pathway that connects our visitors to the adjacent Beargrass Creek. The area boasts an ADA accessible pathway and natural waterfall. Hundreds of trees are planted in this area which will someday be our Woodland Garden.
Edible Gardens
Edible Gardens were built during this phase of the project. The gardens will are fully accessible to all visitors, and encourage hands-on learning. They are designed at a variety of levels and defined widths so that students and volunteers can easily reach the gardens and plants.
The series of garden beds in this area are determined based on educational opportunities as well as by the size of the beds. The Edible Gardens are set just outside the Education Center, and anchored at the far end by a beautiful water wall that intrigues visitors and provides a beautiful frame for outdoor events.
